October 30th MOPS Preview

We will be hearing from Jody and Archie Lawson who are Financial counselors. Here is a snippet of their resume. Looks like they have a wealth of experience (pardon the pun) to share with us.

Jody and I have been involved in voluntary financial counseling for over 25 years. I am a retired airline pilot with 39 years in that profession. I have a BS in mathematics, and I have always had an interest in numbers, especially the positive ones. We have a desire to see people freed from the bondage of debt. We want people to live their lives with as much freedom as possible from the monumental financial pressures facing our world today. I am a member of Gideon’s International (Place Bibles in Hotels, etc.), Sunday school teacher for many years, and we love to travel.

Family Fall Celebration

Draper City Park

Saturday, October 11, 4:00 p.m.

Hi Ladies!
I am sure many of you have heard the weather reports being predicted for this weekend, and now are even getting a little taste of the cold temperatures that have fallen on the valley. It’s definitely unfortunate when an outdoor event is supposed to take place, and may not be able to move forward as planned due to inclement weather. We considered different ideas on how to move it indoors, but accommodations were very limited based on space, numbers attending and time-allowance. At this point, we are still intending for the celebration to occur same time, same place. Some of us plan on being there despite rain and cold temperatures (a somewhat-sheltered pavilion has been rented), however, we are very understanding of those who want to play it safe at home if conditions become extreme. Please check email early or mid-afternoon tomorrow before the 4:00 scheduled event to see if any updates come up!

Thank you for wanting to be a part of this celebration! Please keep in mind that we would love to have another similar family activity in the future where all can come together!

Tracy, our cheerful craft gal is not only doing crafts for both MOPS groups but she is also doing some REALLY cute and useful crafts that I think you will all love. Here is a little preview of what is to come on Thursday. We will also be putting together diapers bags for the Pregnancy Resource Center and we'll still have plenty of time to chat and brunch.

September 25th MOPS

Guess what I didn't do when I got home from MOPS today?? Put the carseat on the kitchen counter. Yikes! Awesome information from Dr. Keller. Its always great to hear from pediatricians but double as effective when the advice is also from a mom with kids in the same stage of life as we are. Here are a few websites she mentioned in her discussion in case you missed them: www.utahsafekids.org
http://intermountainhealthcare.org/xp/public/primary
http://intermountainhealthcare.org/xp/public/documents/pcmc/spotthetot.pdf

Fantastic brunch purple table (and a few green as well).
Our inspirational quote for today comes from Lorena Hansen of the Blue Table - "When one must, one can".
Have a wonderful week.

Upcoming MOPS preview and Contest!!!

Our next meeting is one week away, thought you might like a little preview of things to come. We will hear from Dr. Hallie Keller, she’s a Pediatric ER Doctor. She will be speaking to us on preventing childhood injuries, when to take a child to the ER and when to wait it out. There will be lots of time for Q&A, so start thinking of questions you may have.
Also, mark your calendars on October 11th from 4-6pm for our first annual Family Fall Celebration & Chili Dinner at Draper City Park. There will be dinner, games and activities for the whole family.
We'd also like to add a new blog feature called Ask a Mentor Mom where our awesome Mentor Moms will answer your burning questions(no not hemorrhoid questions, mothering questions). What an awesome resource. So this week's blog contest is to post a question for our Mentor Moms. Then throughout the year they will take a stab at answering these questions. Just make a comment to this post and include your question as well as your first name and last initial (so we can tell who wins). Then we will have a drawing at our meeting next Thursday for all moms that posted a question. The prize will be something fun, useful, or rectangle...lol. Happy questioning!! Oh and a reminder Orange Table you have Adventure Basket and Purple Table you have brunch.
